Might Camper
Project Design Gallery
The brief was to design a compact mini-camper for the New Zealand travellers market. The design consisted of modifying a Honda Odyssey. Through research we discovered that the three main activities the camper was used for were sleep, relaxing and eating. Our design focused around these three areas.
Video
This video shows our target audience, a young couple, using some of the features of the camper during a day of travelling through New Zealand.
This was a group project. My teammates were, Anna Williams, Ben de la Roche, John Chen, Nicolas Loubser, John Van Huenen.
Sleep
A double bed lowers from the ceiling by turning an winch handle. The fabric walls act as both the curtain as well as the support to bring the bed up and down.
Eat
A compact kitchen box was designed to create an accessible area for food preparation at the back of the van. Also, the open boot provided shelter in bad weather.
Relax
Simple padded sections fold out of the floor to create comfortable seating for up to three people.
Extra features
These illustrations are a selection of minor features that we included into the design of the camper. These features are user-friendly and make typically cumbersome jobs easier.
